Reflective Writing in Blogs
“Reflective Writing in Blogs” is an activity utilizing www.blogger.com to facilitate health related writing that is reflective in nature. Learners respond in writing, incorporating new vocabulary and concepts.
Outcomes:
The learner will be able to:
- Write reflectively in a blog
- Share opinions using language that are culturally appropriate
- Develop vocabulary
Preparation:
- Consider pragmatics language for voicing an opinion in culturally appropriate way
- Review vocabulary considerations such as “how to voice an opinion the Canadian way”
- Discuss reflective writing expectations
Delivery:
- Read the text, article or other
- Read related text provided by the instructor or chosen by the learner on themes such as “Principles of Pain Assessment”
- Discuss reading in small groups
- List new vocabulary
- Write the blog entry
- Summarize in a blog as a response to reading texts
- Explain why it is important to follow the principles used in pain assessment
- See an activity example using Blogspot
- Write complete thoughts and paragraphs
- Define unfamiliar vocabulary from the reading in a blog
- List new vocabulary such as: triggers, intensity; duration, intermittent, etc.
- Conclude the Activity
- Develop responses to reflective questions posed by the instructor
