Flisti is a tool that can poll students’ opinions and/or knowledge about a given topic. The poll can be easily created online, then shared or embedded on a web page. Working with the information gathered can then steer discussions or assist in planning further instruction.

Pros:

  • Is an easy way to gather quick information from students.
  • Allows students to respond to questions and remain anonymous which encourages sharing of ideas and comments.
  • Allows using percentages and visuals that can enhance understanding and allows for different ways of communicating information.
  • Takes advantage of polls right before beginning a new unit or module can help instructors decide if the planning and the scaffolding that is prepared will be suitable for the lesson.
  • Reviews knowledge before a formal assessment takes place allowing you to make predictions on the ability of learners to successfully complete tests and exams.

Cons:

  • Are by default anonymous. So personal responses will need to be elicited using different tools.
  • Remains on the site so they should be deleted once they have served their purpose.

    Go to the website Flisti.com and begin by writing your poll question. Then write your answers in the fields provided. Remember that polls work on the basis of multiple choice selections. The program lets you enter two answers by default.

    If your poll contains more than two questions, use the “Add one more answer” link (bottom right of the screen) and add the new responses.
