Blogger - Instructor Ideas
The instructor can use blogging (Blogger) to:
- Act as an question and answer board
- Chose a related RSS, then invite students to join their blogs and read and share their comments
- Communicate with you, the instructor, on topics being studied in class
- Compile a number of summaries into one entry
- Delivery content as an instructor
- Explore and find blogs that they are interested in
- Foster a community of learners
- Introduce learners to the blogging rules which include not using complete names, locations, etc., as well as, expectations regarding tone, respect and proper etiquette
- Keep diary of learning
- Participate in cooperative learning activities; add links
- Post class notes, videos, links and images which the learners can use to review class materials
- Promote authentic learning in the classroom
- Read other education blogs for ideas and inspiration
- Set up a class-based blog related to any course topic as an alternative to using an on-line * join professional blogs such ones sponsored by the provincial or federal government
- Summarize in 1 - 2 paragraphs a blog they are following
- Understand that blogs are a great way to interact with others such as classmates or experts in the field
- Use as a communication space - inform students of class requirements, post handouts and homework assignments
- Use to document and organize student work as a portfolio
- Work in pairs to follow and summarize blogs and then post it to a class blog
