Negotiations and Conflicts Presentations
“Negotiations and Conflicts Presentations” is an activity that utilizes www.prezi.com to create a presentation talking about how engineers use negotiation in workplace conflicts.
Outcomes:
The learner will be able to:
- Give a 8 minute information presentation to describe how to use negotiation when dealing with workplace conflict
- Work as a group or team to create a presentation
- Develop vocabulary related to “negotiations”
Preparation:
- Review presentation expectations: presents in a coherent connected discourse; uses introduction, development and conclusion, uses explicit markers and logical connectors; uses vocabulary adequately for the topic
- Consider pragmatics language for voicing an opinion in culturally appropriate way
- Review vocabulary such as negotiating gambits (for example: “I would like to suggest that you consider increasing the staffing to cope with the backlog.” or “Would you consider increasing the budget to hire more staff?”
Delivery:
In order to collaborate and create a 8 minute presentation where as Professional engineers deal with a workplace conflict
- Assign roles with one student to handle complaints about late deadlines and cost
- Assign other roles to deal with client changes; another about service or product delays, etc.
- Choose a specific problem/ conflict with details so can effectively present how they will negotiate a solution to the conflict
