Professional Interaction

“Professional Interaction” is an activity that uses www.prezi.com to create a class presentation about interactions in the hospital between health professionals. Learners will work in groups to achieve this.

Outcomes:

The learner will be able to:

  • Give a 8 minute presentation describing professional interactions in the hospital
  • Work as a group to create a presentation
  • Develop vocabulary and content around the topic

Preparation:

  • Review presentation expectations: presents in a coherent connected discourse; uses introduction, development and conclusion, uses explicit markers and logical connectors; uses vocabulary adequately for the topic
  • Review vocabulary expected in the presentation
  • Discuss content related to the topic; possibly read related articles
  • Discuss how to use the tool if necessary

Delivery:

Create a 10 minute presentation (using text, audio, video, animations, etc.) to show how to interact in a hospital setting with physicians and other health professionals to exchange information, recommend, discuss, provide and clarify information around an agitated patient

  1. Determine purpose of presentation and create an outline of the presentation
  2. Research content if necessary; read information on the “learning nurse” website
  3. List key vocabulary and submit list to instructor
  4. Make a list of recommendations on how to interact with the patient which will be included in the presentation
  5. Include vocabulary such as professional terminology; professional body language; professional image
  6. Use an introduction, development and conclusion with explicit markers and logical connectors. Use adequate vocabulary related to the topic. Speak with appropriate eye contact, body language, etc.)
