Library instruction requests may be subject to the availability of computer labs, as well as librarians' schedules. We are very busy during the months of September, October, January and February, so please book well in advance.

Please include any details you feel will be helpful to the librarian providing instruction. This may include: a description of the course assignment, students' skill level or prior knowledge, specific resources or concepts you would like covered, questions or difficulties students may have, etc.

General Orientation

A walking tour will orient you or your class to our services, collections, and facilities in the Learner Centre. Tours are between 15-30 minutes long.

Workshops

Group instruction is offered throughout the year on a range of topics such as APA Citation and Referencing, Research Skills, Website Evaluation, etc.

Course-integrated Instruction

We provide customized, assignment-specific library instruction to develop the research and information literacy skills of students. Instruction can be provided in your classroom, a computer lab or in the library.

By Appointment

Students and staff can schedule individual or small group appointments for 30 minutes with a librarian.

Computer Commons

The Computer Commons provides computer resources for students in the 5th floor Learner Centre. Here at our drop-in facility, students can use PC computers with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office.

NorQuest College offers a wide range of services to students with disabilities. Support services such as academic strategies, test accommodation, sign language interpreters, and access to adaptive technology can be arranged.

Tutorial Services

Need extra help understanding course material, developing reading and writing skills, or fine-tuning your study strategies? Experienced tutors are available to help! Tutorial Services are free of charge to all NorQuest students.

Writing Centre

The Writing Centre is a place where our students can build their skills and become more confident, independent writers.

Do you need help:

  • generating or clarifying ideas?
  • writing a thesis statement or organizing your essay?
  • using appropriate grammar and sentence structure?
  • doing research?
  • using proper citation and formatting a reference page?
  • revising and editing your work?

We offer:

  • One-on-one in-person appointments at the Writing Centre
  • Online appointments for students taking their course online/distance or who are at a regional campus
  • Drop-in workshops on topics such as: APA citation, how to paraphrase, and tips for reading academic articles
